Búsqueda de familia Schmerko 
Estimado miembros busco familiares de apellido SCHMERKO en Ucrania. USA, Canadá, Brasil, en Argentina Berisso o La Plata. Yo soy nieto de Don Gregorio SCHMERKO y mi familia radica en Bahía Blanca. Él tenía un hermano en VINNICA CHIMIROVETS Iampolchik, según una carta del año 33.Su hermano se llamaba AFANACIO SCHMERKO JALAMOVICH. Su esposa NASTIA, y sus hijas MANA , GINA. GRACIAS.........

Your ancestral selo/village Ямпільчик/Jampilchyk/Yampilchyk was established in 1730. The very first settler was Ян Пулька /Jan Pulka.  He made a clearing in the forest and established a khutor/manor and a bee apiary.  In time the khutor grew into a village. The name of the village comes from Ян Пулька /Jan Pulka = Jampilchyk. It was
famous for its church with five bells.
 
From late 18th century to 1919  this region was called Podolskaya (Podolya) gubernia > Russian Empire.  From 1919 to end of
World War 2 the region was called Vynnytsa. After the War the Chemerovets district became a part of the Khmelnytska oblast.
 
Today your village still exists and has a population of approximately 2,000.
 
Consider writing the Village Administrator and inquiring about any surviving family still residing in the village. Communicating in
Ukrainian is best.
