busco familiares apellido DOVHEPOLY 

hola

mi nombre es Marisa, y hace años que estoy en busca de familiares en Ucrania. Mi padre junto a su familia arribo a Brasil, mas especificamente en Curitiba, aproximadamente en el año 1934. Yo hace años que vivo junto con mi familia en Argentina y quisiera poder contactarme con la familia mia que quedo en Ucrania. Tengo conocimiento de un tio llamado Mykael (no se si esta correctamente escrito)Dovhepoly, el cual era militar. Si alguien tiene alguna informacion se lo agradezco.

Hello Marisa,

Keep in mind that the only correct spelling of your surname is in its original language. Dovhopoly, probably a more accurate transliteration/sounds like, means OF THE LONG FIELD.

This surname was/is more common to Eastern Ukraine???

I did find the surname in such regions as Kyiv and Ternopil.

 Do you have any documents indicating place of exact origin
of your immigrant/ancestor?  Have your examined church records
in Curitiba?  Ukrainian Baptismal records are very detailed.

many thanks for your information. where are you from???

How do you know the correct spelling of the surname? Because I always underestand that the surname is Dovhepoly... it means something for you in relation with history of Ukrania??

It is true that you say, my father was born in Kyiv but unfortunately i don t have information about my family, but i only know that my uncle called Michael was a soldier in the first war world.

I already investigate in Curitiba in the Ukrainian Baptismal records but I don t find any documentation because when my grandfather had arrived, he bought brazilian documentacion for all the family.     

It is usefull if you can help me with any other information

Ukrainian is a phonetic language.  In Ukrainian, what you hear is what you write.  
 
Довгополий is your ancestral surname as written in Ukrainian. There
are many listings for that surname on the Ukrainian Internet.
 
It is a Cossack name and some Dovhepoly held important positions among the Dnieper Cossacks. Today that tradition of leadership continues. There are currently Dovhepoly in Ukrainian government. Other Dovhepoly are educators, writers and artists.
