The Roczniak's were from Galicia/Halyczyna.
From late 18th century to 1919 wies/village Holoskowice was
predominantly a Ruthenian/Ukrainian village with its own
Greek Catholic Church. The filial Roman Catholic Church was
in Ponikwa. Brody was both the POWIAT/administrative
district - county and the GMINA/judicial-tax district >
Lwowskie wojiwodstwo/region > Galicia/Halyczyna(in Ukr)
Province, administered by ethnic Poles for the Austro-Hungarian
Empire. From 1919-1921 this region came under Reconstituted
Poland's domain. Technically Poland had not existed for the
previous 125 years. During these Interwar Years the region
was Tarnipolskie. With the exception indicated, all place names
are in official Polish. Post WW2 the region was again called
Lvivska oblast/region, and became a part of SSR Ukraine under
Soviet domain until 1991, when Ukraine became independent.
TODAY selo/village Holoskovyche (Голосковичі ) has a
population of 530 people > Brodivskij (Brody) raion/district > Lvivska (Lviv) oblast/region > Ukraine, latest zip code 80642.
Consider writing the Village Mayor and inquiring about
any surviving family still residing in the village. Communicating
in Ukrainian is best.
